Back to Back

Imagine with me.

A man and a woman.

Standing back to back with their hands behind them.

Both people are holding onto the same knife.

One person is holding the blade and the other is holding the handle.

Neither of them knows which side is in their hands.

The interesting part is when the one holding the handle convinces himself that he has the blade and the one holding the blade convinces herself she has the handle.

Your pain is not subjective.

Don’t compare it to someone else’s.

Only you know how deep and how damaging your pain is.

You can convince yourself it is more or less than someone else’s, but when you are so caught up in trying to figure out if you have the handle or the blade,

You’ll forget how easy it is to let go.
